Stewards' Report - Shannon Hope

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards on Friday issued one charge against licensed trainer Shannon Hope for engaging in improper conduct in breach of the Australian Rules of Racing.

Charge 1: AR 175(q) – Behaviour which constitutes improper conduct

AR 175 provides that The Principal Racing Authority (or the Stewards exercising powers delegated to them) may penalise:

q) Any person who in their opinion is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.

The Stewards allege that on 6 February 2017, while viewing trackwork from the grandstand of the Seymour Racing Club, Mr Hope engaged in improper conduct when he engaged in a verbal altercation with licensed trainer Mark Thomas, before striking him on the left side of his face.

Mr Hope will appear before the Victorian vRAD Board in relation to the above charge on a date to be fixed.

Stewards' Report - Mark Thomas

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have also issued one charge against licensed trainer Mark Thomas for engaging in improper conduct in breach of the Australian Rules of Racing.

(q) Any person who in their opinion is guilty of any misconduct, improper conduct or unseemly behaviour.

The Stewards allege that on 9 October 2016, Mr Thomas engaged in improper conduct when he attended the stables of licensed trainers Lee Hope and Shannon Hope, where he initiated a verbal altercation with Mr Shannon Hope whilst in the possession of a firearm.

Mr Thomas will appear before the Victorian RAD Board in relation to the above charge on a date to be fixed.
