New market support record for Winx
13 Sep 2017 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

Update 5.30pm Wednesday - reported a $72,000 wager at $1.08 on Winx.

Earlier report Wednesday - The level of market support for Winx to win the Group 1 WFA George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday has reached a new benchmark reported late on Wednesday morning.

Four weeks ago, 99.2% of the money wagered on the Group 2 Warwick Stakes over 1400m at Randwick was on the champion mare, but that level has been eclipsed with 99.3% of pre-post betting on the 30th start of her race career.

“Incredibly, the biggest bet we took on any other runner in the all-in market was a $15 wager on Happy Clapper,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.

“Meanwhile we took a $17,000 bet on Winx.”

Winx firmed from $1.10 to $1.08 after the final field was announced on Wednesday morning which, if she jumps at that price, would be the shortest odds of her career.
