Field of seven for George Main Stakes

A field of seven has accepted for the $500,000, Group 2 WFA Colgate Optic White George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday with the Chris Waller stable entering five including Winx with two, McCreery (GB) and Tom Melbourne (IRE), dual nominated for the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m).

Winx’s other stablemates for the 30th start of her career will be Mackintosh (NZ) and Foxplay.

The Waterhouse and Bott stable have Ecuador (NZ), Pat Webster has Happy Clapper, Tim Martin has Heavens Above and Winx’s tormentor in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes, Gerald Ryan’s Red Excitement.

Winx has drawn in barrier one for Hugh Bowman with Mackintosh, Glyn Schofield, in barrier two; Foxplay, Brenton Avdulla, barrier three; Red Excitement, Josh Parr, barrier four; Ecuador, Adam Hyeronimus, barrier five; Heavens Above, Tye Angland, barrier six; Tom Melbourne barrier seven; Happy Clapper, Blake Shinn, barrier eight and McCreery and Michael Walker barrier nine.

Winx has opened with TAB.com.au at $1.08 for the race followed by Happy Clapper at $15.00, Foxplay at $17.00 and the rest at $26.00 and over.

The George Main Stakes is Race 6 at 3.15pm

The other black type races on the nine race programme are as follows with race time and field size:

Race 3 – 1.25pm – field of 10 - $125,000, listed Schweppes Heritage Stakes (1000m)

Race 4 – 2.00pm – field of nine - $150,000, Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes (1400m)

Race 5 – 2.35pm – field of 12 - $200,000, McGrath Estate Agents Tea Rose Stakes (1400m)

Race 7 – 3.55pm – field of nine - $200,000, Group 2 Bowermans Office Furniture Shorts (1100m)

Race 8 – 4.35pm – field of 12 - $150,000, Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m)

The programme commences at 12.15pm with a field of 11 in the $60,000, TAB Highway Handicap (1000m)

The track is currently rated a Good 4 after 5mm of irrigation in the last 24hrs and 25mm over the last 7 days. The rail will be out 9m from the 1600m to the winning post and 7m for the remainder of the circuit.

Sydney’s weather continues to have little rain forecast except for Thursday when there is a medium (50%) chance of showers in the early morning and 0mm-1mm. The temperature will be 18c. Friday’s forecast is for a sunny day and 22c with Saturday partly cloudy and 12c – 22c.
