Black Caviar's daughter Oscietra wins
11 Aug 2017 | By Luke Sheehan -
Oscietra, a daughter of Black Caviar, broke through for her maiden win at start number two, at Geelong on Friday in the $25,000, Hanlon Industries Maiden Plate (1000m).

The Lindsay Park-trained filly was returning following a debut third behind Limestone and Miss Wahoo at Flemington on New Year's Day, and as racecaller Adam Olszanski poignantly called on Friday, she did Mum proud with a 1.75-length victory.

The Hawkes Racing-trained debutant Consider It Done edged Oscietra for race favouritism, but Black Caviar's first foal jumped to the front under Regan Bayliss and did it comfortably.

"It was a great relief for her to win today. David's got her in great order," co-owner Neil Werrett said trackside.

"She came out and did what we expected first race.

"I expect over the spring that she'll develop. I'm sure David's going to take her easily, through her grades.

"He'll pick out a race at Moonee Valley in three weeks' time, I think.

"It's very special. It was a great relief for the whole team here.

"It's been a while since she raced on New Year's Day.

"She's very fit. David spent a lot of time getting her ready, so we're very relieved.

And what of Mum?

"She's great. She foals late September. She's in foal to More Than Ready," Werrett reported.

"We're looking forward to it.

"Her colt [Prince Of Caviar] will be going into the Hawkes stable in 3-4 weeks, so plenty to look forward to."
