Walker injured, Rosehill in doubt
17 Feb 2017 | By Brad Bishop - racing.com
A new rider will almost certainly be required for Comin’ Through in Saturday’s Hobartville Stakes after Michael Walker had a premature end to Friday night’s Moonee Valley meeting.

The jockey left the course in an ambulance after suffering a back injury during the running of the fifth race on the card.

Walker completed the race aboard Larapineta, finishing in fifth position, but later reported his back seized up 600m from home in the 1200m event.

He had to be helped from Larapineta and was placed in the track for around 10 minutes while treated by on-course paramedics before being transferred to hospital, which caused a delay to the sixth race of the night.

Walker surrendered his final ride of the night, Mossbeat in the final event, and is in doubt for tomorrow’s Rosehill meeting, where he is engaged to ride Comin’ Through.

Comin’ Through, who Walker rode to victory in last year’s Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day, is CrownBet’s $3.90 favourite for the $400,000 Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m).

He is one of two Group 2 engagements for Walker at Rosehill, also booked to ride French Emotion in the Millie Fox Stakes (1300m).
