Punters think they have 95% of the George Ryder Stakes market right
17 Mar 2017 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk
Punters are tipping Winx will continue her winning ways this weekend, with 95% of all money placed on the Group 1 WFA George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill going on the champion mare reports TAB.com.au on Friday morning.

The biggest bet to date taken on Winx is $67,000 at $1.15.

However the bookmaker said it was a different case for the Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) in what is an extremely open betting race.

Catchy has been the best backed at $5.00 ahead of the $4.40 favourite Houtzen.

However, its Invader who is really appealing to punters, firming from $26 to $18 following a $8,000 bet mid-week.

Note that the RNSW stewards' advised on Friday morning that Invader will under go a vet insection later in the day after the Snowden stable advised them that Invader has sustained a stone bruise to its off-fore foot and has been displaying tenderness in that region.

“Invader has been the best backed since the barrier draw with punters seemingly chipping away at those at bigger odds,” said TAB’s Glenn Munsie.

“Despite Winx’s dominance she may drift a bit. She is up against two proven group one winners who both handle the wet and this looks to be her strongest race yet this campaign.”
