Royal Symphony drifts but still Guineas favourite
10 Oct 2017 | ThoroughbredNEWS News Desk

The Tony McEvoy trained Domesday colt Royal Symphony has drifted slightly with TAB.com.au from $3.80 to $4 after drawing barrier nine at Tuesday morning's draw for the $2m, Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield.

The bookmaker reports that the favourite has been the clear punter’s pick in betting so far, with four times as much money as the next best supported runner Catchy at $5.

“Royal Symphony was as short as $2.70 before his last start defeat, but as the race approaches he is the one punters are warming to,” TAB’s Nick Quinn said.

TAB customers have supported Godolphin's Group 1 winner Alizee at $2.15 to win the $500,000, Group Thousand Guineas (1600m) with 90% of the money on Tuesay on the Flight Stakes winner.

The Baker and Foresman trained multi Group 1 winner Bonneval (NZ) at $2.90 has been the most supported runner to win the $1m, Group 1 WFA Caulfield Stakes (2000m) with money also for the Darren Weir traine Gailo Chop (FR) at $9.

Equal $6 favourite Tom Melbourne (IRE) has been the best backed in the $500,000, Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) ahead of Waller stablemate Egg Tart at $6 and Weir's Tosen Stardom (JPN) at $10.
