Zousain and Tassort win Rosehill trials

The Chris Waller trained Zousain finished a 1000m trial at Rosehill on Monday under a strong hold by James McDonald ahead of stablemate I Am Serious with Hugh Bowmam and another stablemate The Autumn Sun fourth under Kerrin McEvoy. Gary Frazer's Spright was third under Tommy Berry.

Zousain, a Group 2 winner and three times Group 1 placed, looked in complete control through the trial with the trial clocked at 59.08 on the Soft 6 and the final 600m in 33.75.

The Autumn Sun was blocked for room when McEvoy tried to improve of his fourth into the main straight and the Redoute's Choice Group 1 winning colt was not pushed hard afterwards when Spright came alongside narrowing a gap. The colt finished 3 1/2L from Zousain.

The Autumn Sun is due to commence his autumn campaign in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on February 23rd before the Group 1, Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 9th. While The Autumn Sun was nominated for the $5m, All-Star Mile at Flemington it is unlikely he will run in the race.

The current $4.50 favourite with for the Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 23rd, Godolphin's Brazen Beau colt Tassort, won a trial over 895m by 1 1/4L over Heart Breaker.
