A post-race veterinary examination of Arakwal, which was beaten 21 lengths, revealed the filly to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia and to be lame (4/5) in the near-hind leg. Stable representative Mr C. Duckworth was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, will be required prior to Arakwal having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next race start.

Ruby Tuesday – Trainer Mr G. Portelli was fined the sum of $200 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of D. Panya as the rider of the filly. On jumping was hampered by Special Snap, which shifted out. Then from the outside barrier Ruby Tuesday was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

App. Dolan was advised to exercise more care and to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for runners when shifting ground. Satin Socks then was shifted to the outside of Academy in an endeavour to obtain clear running, however, passing the 150m became held up between Academy and Royal Marine and as a consequence was unable to be fully tested over the final 100m.

When being steadied, Front Sight shifted out, resulting in Wimlah and Notabadidea being hampered. Laid in under pressure over the final 200m. When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages, B. Avdulla stated that he was instructed to race in a forward position as per the gelding's recent racing pattern. He said that after beginning satisfactorily, when he observed Quick Finance racing keenly, and as the tempo at this stage of the race was above average, as that runner had a margin on his mount, he elected to allow Quick Finance to cross his mount.

Unknown Universe – A. Banks, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride 5th placegetter, Unknown Universe, out to the end of the race. A. Banks' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday 24 July 2019 and to expire on Monday 29 July 2019 on which day he may ride.

RACE 7: TAB Handicap 1200m:

Cosmic Reign – On jumping was crowded between I Am Capitan and Worldly Pleasure, which shifted out.

I Am Capitan – On jumping was crowded between Cosmic Reign and Touch Of Mink, which was taken in. H. Bowman was reminded of his obligations that wherever possible he must ensure he rides his mounts out to the end of the race. In not taking any direct action against H. Bowman, Stewards were mindful that he did not ride his horse out over the final stride and that 3rd placegetter, Dame Kiri, had already established a margin on I Am Capitan at this point.

Touch Of Mink – On jumping was checked when crowded by Lifetime Quest, which shifted in. J. Collett pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that he failed to ride his mount, eventual 5th placegetter, out to the end of the race. J. Collett's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on 1 August at the expiration of a careless riding suspension incurred in Queensland, and to expire on Tuesday 6 August 2019 on which day he may ride. In consideration of J. Collett's comments the mare's tendency to hang out throughout the event, Stewards advised trainer Mr M. Smith that a veterinary clearance will be required before Touch Of Mink is permitted to race/barrier trial again.

Worldly Pleasure – On jumping shifted out and made contact with Cosmic Reign. Worldly Pleasure then shifted in abruptly and bumped heavily with Tycoon Mar.

Lifetime Quest – On jumping shifted in abruptly, making contact with Touch Of Mink and becoming unbalanced.

Waruna – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.

Handfast – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding her riding of the gelding from the 600m, K. O'Hara stated that her instructions were to lead and, if possible, obtain a margin on the field, similar to the manner in which she rode Handfast at its most recent start at Canterbury on 3 July 2019. K. O'Hara stated that after beginning only fairly she rode her mount in the early stages to comply with her instructions whereby she was able to obtain the lead inside the 1000m. K. O'Hara stated that although she was aware the sections of the race were fast throughout the middle stages, as she was instructed to establish a break on the field she allowed Handfast to maintain that tempo until approaching the 600m. She said that after this point, when Rare Episode maintained its position to her outside, she then commenced to place Handfast under pressure to ensure that she maintained a margin on the field. She added that Handfast then failed to sustain its effort and weakened over the final 150m. Stewards advised K. O'Hara that when she rode Handfast at Canterbury at its last start, she was able to rate the horse at an average tempo throughout the middle stages, however, today the tempo set by Handfast between the 1000m and the 600m was too fast, and bearing that in mind she had erred in commencing to place Handfast under pressure from the 600m. Stewards advised K. O'Hara that these rides were not comparable and that she would be expected to ride with a greater degree of judgement so as to allow her mounts the opportunity to finish off the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Tycoon Mar – Shortly after the start was bumped by Worldly Pleasure, which shifted in.
