The 2018 Longines Golden Slipper winner Estijaab has been spelled by the Hawkes' stable after a problem in training reported news.com.au on Monday night.
The Snitzel filly, owned by Emirates Park, had looked in fine form in a trial at Rosehill over 900m on August 7th when finishing fifth under Tommy Berry.
However co-trainer John Hawkes said that Estijaab is now out untl the autumn.
“We are taking no risks with her, she is too valuable a filly, so she will go back out for a spell,’’ said Hakes reported news.com.au.
Hawkes said that he was confident that Estijaab will return for autumn racing.
Estijaab, out of the Charge Forward mare Response, had a brilliant Slipper campaign running second in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes over 1100m at Rosehill on February 24th, winning the Group 2 Reisling Stakes over 1200n at Randwick on March 10th before dominating the Slipper over 1200m at Rosehill on March 24th.
The filly goes to the paddock with a record of four starts for three wins and the second with stakes of $2,312,575.
