Other Comments / Explanations:
A number of horses were late on course due to traffic difficulties.
Race 1- Spicer Thoroughbreds Plate - 1200 metres:
Melveen - began awkwardly.
Fendalton - slow to begin.
Yulong Meteor - marginally slow to begin.
All Too Handy - held up from the 400m and was unable to obtain clear running until passing the 100m. Was again held up over the concluding stages and went to the line not being fully tested.
Race 2- Polytrack Plate - 1300 metres:
Thunderzone (NZ) - over-raced in the early stages.
Jacky Paper - near the 400m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Heavenly Thought, which shifted in slightly, and Thunderzone (NZ) which when laying out, shifted out.
Ocean Class (NZ) - when making ground over the concluding stages had to be steadied off the heels of Thunderzone (NZ).
Whoomph - rider Stephen Baster was of the view his mount was not suited by the tempo of the race and may be better suited over further distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 3- Chandler Macleod Handicap - 2100 metres:
Young Hostess - jumped away awkwardly. Laid inwards under pressure in the straight. Apprentice Fred Kersley was reminded of his obligation to not use his whip on a horse that is out of contention. Fred Kersley reported his mount was not suited by the tempo of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Etah James (NZ) - laid inwards in the straight. A post race endoscopic examination detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the mares racing performance and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
Deep Purple - apprentice Ben Allen was reminded of his obligation to not use his whip on a horse that is out of contention
Race 4- Dream Thoroughbreds Handicap - 1600 metres:
Hermanito - connections advised would be ridden with cover; settled towards the rear of the field with cover. Bumped at the start and became unbalanced. When laying in, had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 200m between Houston Street (NZ) and Macattack, which shifted out away from Gondoliera (Neil Farley); Neil Farley was advised he must stop and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion. Again raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
Kings Command - jumped away awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with Hermanito resulting in Hermanito becoming unbalanced, shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with Aurum Spirit.
Aurum Spirit - bumped at the start.
Isle Of Capri - when making ground near the 200m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Rocbolt (NZ) which shifted out.
The track was upgraded from Good 3 to Firm 2 at 5.37pm after the running of this race.
Race 5- Mitavite Summer Challenge Heat 3 - 1400 metres:
Abohar - got its head up when over-racing in the early and middle stages. Hung out throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Golden Oldies - raced three wide without cover.
Race 6- Blue Star Print Group Handicap - 1200 metres:
Reserve Street - slow to begin. Rider Luke Nolen reported it was not his intention to be so far back however after missing the start slightly he found himself further back than anticipated.
Sheer Madness - slow to begin.
Fully Maxed - raced three wide without cover.
Amerock - apprentice Ben Allen was spoken to advisedly and notified to modify his action when using his spurs. Ben Allen fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR137A(4)(c) for using his whip on a horse that was out of contention.
Spirit Of Aquada - apprentice Ben Thompson reported his mount did not appreciate the Firm 2 track conditions.
Race 7- United Petroleum Handicap - 1400 metres:
Indernile - late withdrawal at 3.37pm on veterinary advice.
Ribbon Of Choice - late withdrawal at 5.55pm due to upgrade of the track.
Citrus Wish - began awkwardly, shifted in and brushed Aerovictory, knuckled and lost ground.
Our Chiquilla - jumped away awkwardly.
Montaser (NZ) - jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed Nats The Boss.
Aerovictory - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Raced three wide without cover.
Giddyup - raced ungenerously in the middle stages. Apprentice Lachlan King reported that the mare pulled hard in the early stages and then failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Nats The Boss - apprentice Chris Caserta reported he recommended to apply blinkers to the geldings racing gear. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Race 8- Ladbrokes Handicap - 1200 metres:
Gala Moshea - late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 5.41pm due to the upgrade of the track.
Keep Courting - late withdrawal at 5.55pm due to upgrade of the track.
Streetshavenoname - on jumping away had to be checked to avoid the heels of Tonteria, which began awkwardly then shifted out. Became unbalanced when racing in restricted room to the inside of Heptagon (NZ) near the 600m.
Tonteria - began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.
Dinner Lake - got its head up when over-racing in the early stages.
Makahu Boy - got its head up when over-racing in the early and middle stages.
Perfect Command - when making ground near the 200m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of the weakening Trojan Storm, which also shifted in at this point.
Trojan Storm - rider Luke Currie reported his mount would be better suited on a track with more give. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8 - Ladbrokes C F Orr Stakes (Group 1) - 1400 metres:
Hartnell (GB) - rider Craig Williams pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four more times than permitted. Craig Williams was fined the sum of $3000 and in assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and good record, the totality of his whip use and that he won the race which was a Group 1 event.
