RACE 1:  TAB Birthday Card Stakes (Group 3) 1200m

Magic Alibi – slow to begin.

In Good Time – slow to begin.

Sweet Scandal – began awkwardly.

Miss Que – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages

Resin – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Into The Abyss – had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.  Near the 300m blundered.  At the 250m was shifted to the outside of Perizada and Star Reflection to secure clear running.

Star Reflection – in the straight laid in and proved difficult to ride out.

She Knows – when questioned regarding the performance, rider H Bowman advised that in his opinion the mare was unsuited by a moderate early tempo and was unable to sprint when the tempo quickened prior to entering the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.  Trainer Mr D Williams advised that he had some concerns with the manner in which the mare pulled up post-race and he will report to the Stewards on the condition of She Knows and the future race plans for the mare.

Perizada – a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities, other than the mare lost its near-fore plate in running.

RACE 2:  Camera House Darby Munro Stakes (Listed) 1200m

Jonker – slow to begin.  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider B Avdulla reported that his mount failed to travel throughout the event and, after placing the colt under pressure on the home turn, he elected not to continue pressuring his mount in the straight when it failed to respond to his riding.  A post-race veterinary examination of the colt, which was beaten 27 lengths, did not reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer Mr D Atkins advised that in his opinion Jonker was not suited by today's heavy track conditions.  Having regard to the beaten margin, Stewards deemed the performance to be unacceptable and advised Mr Atkins that Jonker would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next start.

Prophet's Thumb – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Krone – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Wagner – when questioned, rider B Shinn stated that in his view the gelding did not handle the heavy track conditions and this was the principal reason for its disappointing performance.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer Mr J Cummings endorsed the views expressed by B Shinn and undertook to report if there are any issues with Wagner in the days subsequent.

Classique Legend – when questioned regarding his riding and in particular the reason the gelding was raced wide and without cover throughout the event, rider K McEvoy advised that his instructions were to race prominently.  He said when his mount commenced reasonably well and he endeavoured to cross runners to his inside in the early stages, however, when he observed Poised To Strike improve to his inside after travelling a short distance, he felt that Classique Legend did not have sufficient speed to cross that runner and Wagner, particularly on the heavy conditions, and for this reason he elected not to continue to shift in.  He added that, although he was aware that this then may result in his mount being caught wide and without cover, he felt it would have been to the detriment of the gelding's chances to continue riding Classique Legend along.  When questioned as to why he had made his decision to not contest the lead so soon, when in the opinion of the Stewards Classique Legend was building momentum to cross the runners to his inside, K McEvoy confirmed his earlier evidence and indicated that he had hoped the field would spread and this would allow him to obtain a position closer to the rail.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Trainer Mr L Bridge confirmed the instructions and expressed satisfaction with the ride of K McEvoy.  Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed to consider the evidence.

RACE 3:  Irresistible Pools N E Manion Cup (Group 3) 2400m

One Foot In Heaven – from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Vin De Dance – rider B Shinn advised that, although his mount was caught wide and without cover, in his opinion it did not handle today's heavy track conditions and, particularly when the tempo increased from the 500m, the gelding was unable to quicken in the going.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.

Zacada – a post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was forced to make a wide run from the 800m, revealed it to be slow to recover.

Etymology – rider H Bowman reported the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise during the race.  A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to be coughing.  Trainer Mr J Cummings was advised a veterinary clearance must be provided, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to Etymology racing again.

RACE 4:  Sky Racing Rosehill Guineas (Group 1) 2000m

Madison County – a veterinary examination of the gelding, which had sustained an abrasion and multiple lacerations to its near-side hip in the float whilst en route to the course, deemed it unsuitable to race.  Madison County was a late scratching at 12.07pm acting on veterinary advice.  Co-trainer Mr M Baker was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

Dealmaker – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Rider H Bowman advised that when the tempo increased from the 800m it found it difficult to quicken.  He added in his opinion Dealmaker ran to the line in a satisfactory manner, given today's heavy track conditions and the way the race was run.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.  Trainer Mr C Waller was asked to report back to Stewards on the post-race condition of the colt.

Night's Watch – slow to begin.  Near the 1500m was checked from the heels of Shillelagh.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities, other than the gelding lost its near-fore plate in running.

Ace High – rider D Dunn stated his mount travelled satisfactorily in a prominent position, however, when placed under pressure early in the straight did not respond and weakened noticeably over the final 200m.  He said Ace High was not suited by today's heavy track conditions.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities, other than the horse lost its near-fore plate in running.

Almandin – rider D Oliver stated that his mount did not travel well at any stage of the event and in the straight he desisted from riding his mount out when it was not responding to his urgings in the straight.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  The stable confirmed Almandin will now be retired.

Sikandarabad – a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia.  Co-trainer Mr D Hayes was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, before Sikandarabad being required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.

RACE 7:  Longines Golden Slipper (Group 1) 1200m

Kiamichi – Racing NSW Senior Veterinarian Dr T Koenig advised that a veterinary inspection conducted on Friday, 22 March 2019 deemed the filly suitable to race.  The filly had sustained minor soft tissue swelling to the off-fore cannon, however, was not lame or sensitive to palpation.  A veterinary inspection of Kiamichi after arriving on course again deemed the filly suitable to race.

Microphone – began only fairly.

Pin Sec – jumped awkwardly and made contact with the near-side of its barrier.  Rider T Berry stated that the filly, being relatively inexperienced, did not handle the high pressure of today's race and in addition may not have appreciated the heavy track conditions.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  The Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the filly.

Yes Yes Yes – from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Exhilarates – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Free Of Debt – M Walker, rider of Dubious, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Free Of Debt, which was steadied and lost its running, resulting in Time To Reign having to be steadied to avoid the heels of Free Of Debt and causing Catch Me to be checked from the heels of Time To Reign, shifted out and made contact with Lyre.  M Walker's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday, 2 April 2019 and to expire on Thursday, 11 April 2019, on which day he may ride.  On the home turn was inclined to lay out and near the 400m was steadied from the heels of Lankan Star.  Free Of Debt then shifted to the inside to secure clear running.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have been galloped on to the off-foreleg, requiring treatment.  Trainer Mr C Bieg was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Free Of Debt racing again.
