Hawkesbury hosts their stand-alone meeting on Saturday with 166 nominations received on Monday for the nine race programme and nominations extended for the three features, $200,000, Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m), $200,000, Group 3 Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1600m) and $175,000, Group 3 Killahy Equine Crown (1300m).
The Guineas received 15 nominations on Monday including Mark Newnham’s Not A Single Doubt gelding Quackerjack, a last start winner over 1300m on the Kensington track by 1 1/2L on April 3rd. This was Quackerjack’s first race since a spell after the spring and his fourth from ten starts.
Gary Portelli’s Ronstar is nominated after his narrow second to Invictus Salute over 1100m at The Farm on April 17th. The Zoustar gelding showed promise early in his career and fell away, but the last start run showed he might be back for another win.
Godolphin have nominated another who has had earlier success in Lonhro colt Ranier. The colt won the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes over 1600m at Flemington back on November 3rd after a good winning streak in the spring.
The autumn has not been as kind, however, he was only just over 2L from Ringerdingding in the Randwick version of the Carbine Club Stakes on April 6th.
The Gold Cup has 15 nominations and the Crown 19 nominations.
The track is rated a Good 4 on Monday with the rail to be in true position for the entire circuit.
The weather for the Hawkesbury region this week is for fine weather and temperatures ranging from 28c and 29c before Saturday’s forecast of a sunny day with 9c – 22c.
