LATE RIDING CHANGES:

As T Wolfgram became indisposed following Race 4, Stewards permitted the following riding changes:

Race 6 S Lisnyy on Carnegie’s Monaco.
Race 7 S Lisnyy on Darpra.

RACE 1 – Polytrack CG&E Maiden Plate 1200m

Blazeray – Ideally, to be ridden with cover. However, if horse races too keenly, rider given the option to lead.  Settled worse midfield.  When questioned R Hutchings stated that he was instructed to ride his mount with cover, and from his wide barrier he was obliged to restrain towards the tail of the field to obtain cover trailing African Academy.  He stated that his mount, which has had a history of breathing issues, travelled comfortably throughout the run and he was pleased with its breathing, however, when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, his mount was disappointing, in that it was one-paced in the run to the finish.   A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Aruba – Slow to begin.  When questioned A Bullock stated that he was instructed to obtain cover on the gelding and approaching the 1000m, he was able to obtain a position on the fence trailing Monsieur Macron.  He stated that shortly after his mount commenced to race fiercely, and he was obliged to check his mount away from the heels of Monsieur Macron and shift out.  He stated that his mount then became awkwardly positioned on the heels of Denials, and he was obliged to severely check it for some distance until approaching the 700m, where it shifted out causing African Academy to be hampered and carried wider.  Stable representative M Rowland was told that Aruba would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Returning To Win - Slow to begin.

African Academy -  Slow to begin.

The Timewarp - Began awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced.  When questioned J Hull stated that after establishing a position to the inside All Ellie approaching the first turn, his mount commenced to hang out severely.  When making that turn, clipped the heels of All Ellie and blundered. J Hull further stated that his mount continued to hang out badly for the remainder of the event, and as a consequence proved difficult to ride out in the straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Bartley advised that The Timewarp would now be spelled.   Mr Bartley was told that the The Timewarp would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
