Kranji's Friday meeting preview

Friday meeting preview, selections, comments and odds.

As the countdown continues to the re-introduction of international racing in Singapore on May 26th Friday night's nine-race card looks a beauty for punters.

And while two very good Class 3 divisions over 1400m look the most competitive races on the night, the first leg of the Golden Horseshoe Series for two-year-olds is a highlight.

Only two horses in DRONE and GIANT KILLING have been seen at the races previously and both will obviously get most of the punters attention given they finished first and a close-up third respectively in 2YO maiden company.

DRONE has speed to burn - and by all accounts has trained on very well - so looks the one to beat although the connections of GIANT KILLING will be thinking a 2kg pull in the weights under the race conditions puts them right in contention.

No less than 10 newcomers in the race - most of whom have shown ability at the trials - will keep punters on their toes and the market will be a terrific guide to any stable confidence on the night.

As mentioned, the two Class 3 races look beauties with the Guineas bound MR CLINT a big show to win race 5 for top hoop Vlad Duric while the exciting SATELLITE WINNER can win race 8, although both races look wide open.

Best Bets: (NOVA LOCAL race 3, win), (ALAMOSA EXPRESS race 9, win) and (JACKS SECRET race 7, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 6 (1, 3, 4, 6 and 10), race 7 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6), race 8 (1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 13), race 9 (1).

Please note the odds listed are "reference odds" only.

Race 1

Selections; 2 MILLION ROUND - 1 MILITARY MIGHT - 6 KUBERA'S CHIEF - 4 GOLDEN STATES

A Class 5 where a few handy enough Class droppers who should gain the punters attention join the usual suspects. Two in particular in MILLION ROUND and MILITARY MIGHT win without surprising after showing enough in Class 4 to follow. MILLION ROUND won four starts back in a similar affair to this and had excuses last start not to finish closer. He has drawn wide but Woodworth should find a midfield position with best work expected late. MILITARY MIGHT gets Duric and while his best form (and only win) was on the turf, he has shown enough recently in Class 4 on the Poly to give this a shake. KUBERA'S CHIEF and GOLDEN STATES the two to follow on recent Class 5 form with the former getting the services of the newly licensed Alysha Collett. Others to watch include the maiden PACIFIC PERAL with M Rodd a factor. Betting Strategy - MILLION ROUND each-way.

1 MILITARY MIGHT *** A better winning option on the turf but a significant drop in Class with Duric up has him under notice. 4.00

2 MILLION ROUND *** Drawn wide but excuses last start not to finish closer in better company and hard to beat dropping back to Class 5. 5.00

3 PACIFIC PEARL ** Maiden who has shown glimpses and will appreciate Class 5. Rodd helps too. 12

4 GOLDEN STATES *** Improved effort when placing after tough run last start and have to respect from gate 3. 6.00

5 TURQUOISE SON ** Best work late to pinch a place at odds last start and expect something similar. 12

6 KUBERA'S CHIEF *** Found form and in this a long way from gate 4. 4.00

7 MAGIC PAINT * Just battling of late. 50

8 SOLITAIRE ** Will work into exotic calculations late. 12

9 BIG REGARDS * Best work expected late but prefer over longer. 20

10 HIGHLIGHT * Not a mile away at odds last start but needs to find a length or two before considering. 33

11 BERLINETTA * No. 50

12 KING CROSS * Found a second wind to place last start over 1400m but unreliable and easier to ignore. 20

13 EVERTRUST * Excuses not to finish closer last start but like to see more. 33

14 HEPHAESTUS * Win six starts back was an anomaly. 50

Race 2

Selections; 10 BURKAAN - 6 CLARTON TREASURE - 1 KISS YOUR SONG - 10 BURKAAN

With plenty of unknowns in this maiden field, the tote will be a terrific guide on the night. But as it stands three horses with race form under their belts in KISS YOUR SONG, D'GREAT STAR and BURKAAN all appeal. And while KISS YOUR SONG looks due - perhaps overdue - and can win from gate 4 with support likely, the 2YO BURKAAN might be the one to catch with just 49kg on his back. His debut against his own age group was solid and an 8kg swing in the weights against the majority of this field has to be a factor. There are four newcomers in the field and while all look to have some hope on debut, CLARTON TREASURE looked very comfortable at his Official Trials and looks the pick of that bunch. Betting Strategy - BURKAAN each-way, saver on CLARTON TREASURE.

1 KISS YOUR SONG *** Overdue but ran on well enough last start to follow from gate 4. 4.00

2 D'GREAT STAR *** Resuming after a very disappointing run but was due prior and recent trials good enough to follow. 8.00

3 DRAGON HIGH ** Race form only fair but gets blinkers and has trialled well in headgear. Keep safe. 12

4 CONATUS G ** Excuses when resuming and worth thought on solid placing start prior. 8.00

5 AABIR ** Solid without being spectacular at local trials but gets Duric so pay to watch market at race debut. 8.00

6 CLARTON TREASURE *** Jas looked more than comfortable at two trials and looks a big show on debut. 5.00

7 GROUND ATTACK ** Drawn awkwardly but looked OK at the trials and honest run expected. 12

8 KING WARRIOR ** Had plenty of trials - the odd good one - and worth considering with one eye on the market. 12

9 FIFTH COMMAND FLAG * Blinkers off but impossible on race form. 100

10 BURKAAN *** Two-year-old who showed enough against own age group at debut to consider here with 49kg. 8.00

Race 3

Selections; 4 NOVA VOCAL - 3 SPECIAL RAIN - 2 RUM N RAISINS - 8 OCEAN MASTER

Not an overly strong Class 4 (non-premier) Poly sprint, which gives the promising NOVA VOCAL a big show to knock in his second win at just start three. The 3YO Irish-bred gelding won very well on debut and was stiff not to remain unbeaten when just missing in Novice Company at start two. Blinkers go on and while awkwardly drawn for this, he looks better than Class 4 and hard to beat. The horses with recent form on the board in good Class 4 company include SPECIAL RAIN who has also drawn wide while RUM N RAISONS is also due with best work expected late. There is some value about elsewhere with OCEAN MASTER appreciating gate 4 and SUN SEEKER some hope on winning Class 5 form. Betting Strategy - NOVA VOCAL win.

1 MAIDANZ BEAUTY ** Solid when resuming and excuses not to finish closer. Keep safe. 12

2 RUM N RAISINS *** Disappointing last start but can win on form prior with best work expected late. 6.00

3 SPECIAL RAIN *** Drawn awkwardly but gets Duric and wins again sooner than later. 5.00

4 NOVA VOCAL *** Gets blinkers after just missing in a head-bobber in Novice Company last start. Nice type and hard to beat. 1.90

5 SAVAGE STORM ** Gets blinkers after being just fair with support in similar affair last start and have to take on trust. 12

6 AMAZING MAN * Best work late last start but needs longer to be a threat. 20

7 SUPERSONICSURPRISE * Improved effort last start but easier to ignore. 50

8 OCEAN MASTER ** Did it tough last start after breaking through last start in similar company. Worth thought at odds from gate 4. 33

9 WAR CITI * Nothing when resuming and not for me. 100

10 PRINCE FERDINAND ** Drawn wide and like to see in easier company but worked home well last start at odds and expect much the same. 33

11 SUN SEEKER ** Took a drop to Class 5 to find winning form but happy to include in exotics with no weight in this field. 12

12 JOYOUS * Prefer in something easier on the turf. 50

13 BOARD WALK ** Did it tough last start and wide gate makes this as tough. Recent trial was solid. 20

14 BLACK QUAIL ** Solid as a rule and a must for exotics if he gets a start. 12

Race 4

Selections; 1 DRONE - 3 GIANT KILLING - 9 MY BIG BOSS - 5 JUPITER DRAGON

The first leg of the Golden Horseshoe Series and while there may be some handy newcomers who are ready to fire at their respective debuts, the only two horses with race form under their belts - DRONE and GIANT KILLING - are the two to watch. Obviously DRONE impressed when winning on debut and the speedster will be hard to run down with race fitness under his belt. In saying that, GIANT KILLING ran on super late in that race to keep him honest and a 2kg pull in the weights can't hurt. The proverbial blanket goes over the likes of GOOD LUCK CHARM, JUPITER DRAGON, KING ZOUSTAR, MAKKEM LAD, MY BIG BOSS, PENNYWISE, STREETWISE and the filly SCOOBY DOOBY DOO who have all trialled well enough to consider with the market a very good guide. Betting Strategy - watch market on the newcomers but DRONE very hard to beat.

1 DRONE *** Speedster who won from go-to-whoa with heavy support on debut and hard to beat here. 2.10

2 ACE'S WILD * Draw a concern but OK at first Official Trial and could run into exotic calculations late. 33

3 GIANT KILLING *** Ran on very well on debut to keep Drone honest and gets a 2kg pull in the weights. Follow. 6.00

4 GOOD LUCK CHARM ** Looked solid when winning Official trial and gets Duric but wide gate makes winning tough on debut. 8.00

5 JUPITER DRAGON ** Won Official Trial in slow time but gets the favours from gate 2 and pay to keep safe. 20

6 KING ZOUSTAR ** Hit the line solidly at Official Trial and worth thought from gate 1. 12

7 MAESTRO * Prefer to just watch on exposed poor trial form. 200

8 MAKKEM LAD ** Looked like he knows a bit about the racing caper at the trials and should figure prominently from good gate. 12

9 MY BIG BOSS ** Looked very solid when winning recent Official Trial and has to be considered in winning calculations. 10

10 PENNYWISE ** Had a typical Le Grange trial when hitting the line well and should figure in the mix. 12

11 STREETWISE ** Finished with his stablemate, Pennywise, at Official trial and should run a solid debut. 20

12 SCOOBY DOOBY DOO ** Filly who looked OK at Official Trial and a slight pull in the weights won't hurt. 20

Race 5

Selections; 6 MR CLINT - 7 LIM'S MAGIC - 9 THE WIND - 11 MR HANKS

A cracking race - probably the best on the card - and with plenty of winning chances there is sure to be some value about for astute punters. The form line to follow may be through the Three-Year-Old Challenge with MR CLINT and MR HANKS both opting to have a crack at Open Company to get back to winning form. Of the two, MR CLINT has the better form on the board from those two races and he will be flying late in this field with a tongue-tie added. MR HANKS had horror barriers to contend with in both legs and happy to think he has more to offer after finally drawing a fair alley. Plenty of others that can win including the impressive LIM'S MAGIC who resumes with some nice trials under his belt while THE WIND looked to have something in hand last start and could show his best from gate 2. MR EXCHEQUER, DARCI CHARMER, LIM'S KNIGHT and SUPERNOVA (at odds) all can figure. Betting Strategy - each way MR HANKS and THE WIND both at value.

1 MR EXCHEQUER *** Freshened with nice trial dropping back in trip after two good wins and goes close with best work expected late. 5.00

2 DARCI CHARMER *** Led in good company this trip last start and a big show in this field with gate 1 and claim a factor. 13

3 LIM'S KNIGHT *** Turned some solid form into a win last start and step up to 1400m not an issue. Keep safe. 10

4 OXBOW SUN ** Drawn wide but led and just missed last time he raced over this trip and could run a cheeky race at odds. 20

5 SUPERNOVA *** Form better than it reads and this looks a very suitable race to keep safe each-way at odds. 20

6 MR CLINT *** Very progressive type who ran on well in the 3YO Classic and look well suited to win this with a tongue-tie added. 3.00

7 LIM'S MAGIC *** Resuming after winning two from four - both over 1400m - and trials like he has a big say in this. 3.00

8 STUNNING CAT ** Led them up in the 3YO Classic before battling from 250m. Could show up at odds. 33

9 THE WIND *** Looked to have something up his sleeve over this trip in KSB company last start and pay to follow. 20

10 CRAZY TIMES * Impossible on form. 200

11 MR HANKS *** Drew the car park at previous two starts in 3YO Group company and happy to give a chance on best form from gate 5. 33

12 CRAZY DREAMS * Has speed but tested this trip and better on the Poly. 100

13 TURF CHAMPION ** Ran on well late last start and could surprise back on the turf if race run to suit swoopers. 33

Race 6

Selections; 4 ACE HARBOUR - 10 FORESTO - 3 PENNSYLVANIA - 1 NEW SENSATION

A big field heads to the mile start for this Maiden and FORESTO on the back on five straight placings looks the obvious pick. The 3YO just missed two starts back before having everything covered bar the winner last start over this trip on the Poly. Vlad Duric stays on and from gate 5, he gets his chance. But form from Class 4 races will more than hold up here and ACE HARBOUR could be the big danger. The 4YO English-bred gelding did it tough last start and wasn't a mile away and he could be hard to beat back in a maiden from gate 2. PENNSYLVANIA and NEW SENSATION also appreciate maiden company with the latter the improver over the mile with blinkers back on. RACE TO FAME another that can also win with Bruce Marsh opting for a 4kg claimer. Betting Strategy - ACE HARBOUR win.

1 NEW SENSATION *** Shown nothing at two starts this campaign but gets blinkers back over a suitable trip with very forward run expected. 12

2 ALL MY EYE ** Struggled last start in Class 4 but placed two back in Maiden company so has to be considered. 12

3 PENNSYLVANIA *** Drawn the river but placed in Class 4 Company this trip last start so a big show in this field. 8.00

4 ACE HARBOUR *** Refuses to run a bad race without breaking through but this looks very suitable and hard to hold out from gate 2. 3.00

5 SEVENTH HEAVEN ** Runs on late as a rule and should work in exotics calculations. 33

6 RACE FOR FAME *** Pulled up lame last start when supported and did look due prior so pay to keep safe with handy 4kg claim. 12

7 SPEEDY NANCHO * Struggles. 200

8 SHABBAT * Runs the odd good race but had his chances and easier to ignore. 50

9 LINCOLN FAME * Checked at 900m but made some ground when resuming. Could improve over the mile. 50

10 FORESTO *** Found one better (again) last start with gap to third and has to win sooner than later. 2.60

11 LIM'S RHYTHM ** Honest without being a winning threat but a must for exotics. 12

12 PHUKET * No. 200

13 CALL IT * Not the worst effort at odds last start and will add big value to exotics. 33

14 IMPRESARIO * Struggles as a rule. 200

15 POET'S RYKER * No. 200

16 THREE LIONS * Hard to have. 100

Race 7

Selections; 4 JUSTICE LASS - 3 METTLESOME - 1 JACKS SECRET - 2 LETITGO

Four last start winners and another four or so 'black-bookers' makes this a race with just too many winning options to be confident, so value will be the key. Of the last start winners, both LETTIGO and METTLESOME won well enough in this company to follow but the pair have drawn in gates 14 and 13 respectively so luck will play a part. CASEY and SWIFT EMBRACE won in maiden company last start and while they will be competitive, this is a strong Class 4 so they will need to improve again to win. The horses that look suited to show their best include JUSTICE LASS and JACKS SECRET both stepping up to a more suitable trip while PIONEER STEP always goes very well for V Duric and NORTHERN KNIGHT is better than what he showed last start. Betting Strategy - JUSTICE LASS win, saver on JACKS SECRET.

1 JACKS SECRET *** Ignore recent form as drops in Class, steps up to suitable trip and gets blinkers/pacifiers added. Can win. 20

2 LETITGO *** Had a couple of sighters before winning as the even money fave for this hoop last start and have to follow. 4.00

3 METTLESOME *** Drawn wide but overcame wide gate last start to win going away and hard to hold out again. 4.00

4 JUSTICE LASS *** Eye-catching effort late last start and that bodes well for a big run from gate one over a more suitable trip. 7.00

5 PIONEER STEP *** Did it tough enough last start when placing to follow as always goes well for V Duric. 8.00

6 NORTHERN KNIGHT *** Disappointing with support last start but better than that in what is a very suitable race so give another chance. 6.00

7 Q NINE MILLION * Query the trip and blinkers off so take on trust. 33

8 SWIFT EMBRACE ** Was running on strongly when breaking maiden status over 1200m suggesting he will be competitive this trip and company. 12

9 LIM'S HUNTER ** Recent form just fair but won maiden over 1400m so may appreciate set up to the mile. 50

10 WONDERFUL ERA ** Runs on when in the mood and can include in exotics. 20

11 CASEY ** Won maiden this trip and track last start and another that will be very competitive. 12

12 GOLD REWARD ** Has only battled at recent starts but recent good trial suggests he can improve with blinkers a factor. 20

13 HERO IN THE WIND ** Not a mile away at odds last start and pay to include in exotics. 33

14 BIG BANKER * Last run better than the result but may need easier. 50

Race 8

Selections; 10 SATELLITE WINNER - 7 BLACK JADE - 1 LUCKY STRIDE - 3 LIM'S ROYAL

The second division of the Class 3's over 1400m and this one looks as tough as the first one to find the winner. In fact you can make a strong case for at least eight of the capacity field and again, there has to be value to found on the night. Two very progressive types down in the weights in SATELLITE WINNER and SUPER DYNASTY appeal. SATELLITE WINNER grew wings late last start suggesting he is more than up to winning in this Company while SUPER DYNASTY won handsomely at his second start in Singapore and can go on with the job. Of the others to consider, LIM'S ROYAL and STAR GENIUS are ready to win but have both drawn awkwardly (although Rodd and Duric respectively helps their cause) while the top weight, LUCKY STRIDE, has his foot on the till and wins without surprising. BLACK JADE, CHOCOLATS and LIM'S DASHING just three others to follow. Betting Strategy - SATELLITE WINNER each-way.

1 LUCKY STRIDE *** In very good form without winning but gets his chance from gate 3. 4.00

2 ON ELECTRIC AVENUE ** Never involved from wide gate last start and happy to include here from the ace. 20

3 LIM'S ROYAL *** No luck with the barriers again but loomed large last start at odds and expect much the same. 12

4 COLCHESTER ** Looked to have every chance when just battling last start but won one of these three back so pay to keep safe. 20

5 STAR GENIUS *** Excuses not to finish closer last start and always an each-way hope with Duric on-board. 12

6 CHOCOLATS *** Refuses to run a bad race but yet to open Singapore winning account. 6.00

7 BLACK JADE *** Very much appreciates what was a solid Singapore debut and step up to 1400m on the turf looks ideal. Goes close. 8.00

8 WHY NOT ** Won well in Class 4 last start but this is tougher and wide gate not ideal. 20

9 LIM'S DASHING *** Never fired a shot from wide gate last start but just missed previous outing and in this a long way from gate 2. 12

10 SATELLITE WINNER *** Very progressive type who flew late last start over 1200m and can win this. 6.00

11 SOUTHERN SPUR ** Gate a concern but best work late last start at odds suggests he is worth a look with blinkers added over recent winning trip. 20

12 BANDIDO * Resuming and like to see something before considering. 100

13 SUPER DYNASTY *** Won well enough in Class 4 over this trip and second Singapore start to follow in albeit tougher company. 12

14 MAGNIFICENT GOLD ** Solid without being a winning threat at two Singapore starts but can include in exotics with winkers off. 20

15 LIFE IS GAMBLE * OK late last start but needs easier. 100

Race 9

Selections; 1 ALAMOSA EXPRESS - 2 ARR FLAIR - 4 YAYA PAPAYA - 12 COUNTRY BOSS

While the in-form ARR FLAIR probably starts favourite and goes very close to winning, five or so Class droppers make the form very interesting in the lucky last. And the best of those may be ALAMOSA EXPRESS who not only drops to Class 4 after four starts in better company since arriving from NZ, but gets Duric and a tongue tie and can win off the back of an eye-catching effort last start. YAYA PAPAYA will also find this easier than 3YO Group level and can improve back on is preferred surface while last start Class 4 winner, COUNTRY BOSS, must also be respected. Plenty of others to watch including FAREES who is always a show in races like this. Betting Strategy - ALAMOSA EXPRESS win.

1 ALAMOSA EXPRESS *** Ran on super against the bias last start and very hard to beat with Duric on down in Class with a tongue-tie added. 4.00

2 ARR FLAIR *** Found form and excuses not t win (again) last start in similar affair. Big show. 3.00

3 JUSTICE SMART ** Like to see over longer but down in Class and gets headgear added off the back of a good trial so keep safe. 20

4 YAYA PAPAYA *** Will find this easier than 3YO Group level and two ins on the Poly so look for big improvement. 12

5 CLASSIFIED ** Form better than it reads given he drops to winnable company with gate 1 and 4kg claim factors. 50

6 DESTROYER ECLIPSE ** Drawn wide but will find this easier than Novice company and has a good Poly record. Value. 20

7 FAREES *** Draw a concern but showed last start why he wins a race like this sooner than later and goes close. 8.00

8 LIZAZ ** Resuming and recent trial good enough to include in exotics. 12

9 COME AND TAKE ALL ** Honest and always going to be in the mix in races like this. 8.00

10 HOST THE NATION ** Not a mile away last start but gate 2 helps as does Class 4 company. 33

11 STAR EMPIRE ** Former Australian who looked OK at a recent trial but like to see support before considering in this field. 20

12 COUNTRY BOSS *** Broke long overdue maiden status last start in similar affair and happy to follow. 10

13 KATAGAS ** Wide gate not a concern as will get back and run on strongly. Each-way. 12

14 MUSCLE BEACH * Back in trip and easier to ignore. 50
