Godolphin weekend runners update

Godolphin's trainer James Cummings comments on the stable's runners at Flemington and Rosehill on Saturday.

Race 1 -  Very Speical Kids Pin and Win Plate - Listed   (3yoF SWP)       (1100m)

ATHIRI (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Lonhro (AUS) out of Retsina (AUS)
“There was hidden merit in her previous start against stronger company.”
“On her early two-year-old displays she would give this a terrific shake. It will be interesting to see how she handles the straight course.”

Race 3 - Exford Plate-Listed    (3yo SWP)       (1400m)

LA TENE (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Helmet (AUS) out of Celts (AUS)
“La Tene continues on her programme with her customary no nonsense approach.“
“The Exford Plate, up to 1,400m at Flemington, looks a nice second-up option for her.”
“She is well and truly capable of improving quickly through her preparation.”

TENLEY (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Fratianne (AUS)

“It would be fair to say she has to improve on her first-up run.”
“The blinkers come off on Saturday.”
“As a two-year-old she beat horses like Exhilarates and Anaheed in the Reisling, so it would be pleasing to see her reproduce something like that form.”

Race 5 – Danehill Stakes – Group 2   (3yo SWP)     (1200m)

LYRE (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Lonhro (AUS) out of Erato (AUS) – Sam Freedman
“She’s a filly who seems to get better the more racing she has.”
“It’s possible that she might even be looking for 1,400m now.”
“Even in her first-up run she raced like she might be looking for further, but we’ll be waiting for the Guineas Prelude to get her out to that trip.”
“At Caulfield she just found it difficult to sprint with the others, but her last 100m was good.”
“And a run like that might toughen her up a bit as well.”

Race 7 - Makybe Diva Stakes-Group 1   (WFA)       (1600m)

HARTNELL (GB) - 9yo Gelding by Authorized (IRE) out of Debonnaire (GB)
“Hartnell has kept on thriving since his meritorious effort in G1 Memsie second-up last start.“
“In his past two preparations he’s found his best form at his third run back.”
“He won the Epsom third-up last spring and he finished second in the All Star Mile at the same stage of his autumn campaign.“
“And he’s training like his third run is going to be his best this time.”
“The gladiator is ready to throw down the gauntlet again at Flemington which should suit him perfectly third-up from a spell.”
“He’s going beautifully.”

Race 8 – Bobbie Lewis Quality-Group 2       (1200m)

DEMERARA (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Commands (AUS) out of Rum Cruise (AUS)
“She’s coming along beautifully.”
“She’s won first-up five times, so she’s a highly capable mare when fresh.”
“Her trials have been good, she’s been competitive in Group company previously and has the opportunity here to step up.”

Race 5 - Dulcify Stakes-Listed  (3yo SWP)       (1500m)

SUBEDAR (AUS) - 3yo Gelding by Sepoy (AUS) out of Virage de Fortune (AUS)
“He probably didn’t handle the track last start.”
“Nevertheless, he’s a talented, improving horse.”

Race 6 - The Run To The Rose-Group 2   (3yo SWP)     (1200m)

BIVOUAC (AUS) - 3yo Colt by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Dazzler (AUS)
“After a sizzling first-up victory in Melbourne he appeared to be clearly outpointed by a very smart colt at Rosehill.”
“The return clash of these gun colts, augers well for an exciting contest in an event oozing quality.”
“Getting back on top of the ground could be the difference for our horse.”

Race 8 - Sheraco Stakes-Group 2    (F&M  SWP)         (1200m)

RESIN (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Beaded (AUS)
“She returns here in open company down the straight six. Her work has been particularly encouraging and although yet to win when resuming, she has been placed in four out of five first-up efforts.“
“Softer conditions will enhance her prospects.”
