Godolphin dominate Rosehill opening markets

The opening markets for Rosehill on Saturday clearly demonstrate the current strength of Godolphin’s stable under James Cummings with three favourite’s with and three second favourites from six of the nine races and the stable does not have runners in the other three races.

Fresh off an explosive Group 1 Golden Slipper winning trifecta headed by Kaimichi and Avilius’s Group 1 Ranvet Stakes win last Saturday the stable have Avilius again this week for the Group 1 WFA KIA Tancred Stakes (2400m). Avilius is the $2.40 favourite.

Alizee returns to Sydney after her almost all conquering Melbourne campaign and her third place in the All-Star Mile at Flemington. On Saturday the multiple Group 1 winning Sepoy mare is the $1.90 favourite for the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m).

Four-year-old Street Cry gelding Trekking completes the trio of favourites being at $3.70 for the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes (1200m). He was fourth first up in the Group 3 Maurice McCarten Stakes over 1100m on March 16th, 1 1/4L from the winner Easy Eddy, after being sixth at the 400m.

Pohutukawa is second favourite at $5.00 for the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m), Cossetot second favourite at $5.00 with In A Twinkling for the Group 2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) and La Tene second favourite at $3.90 for the Group 3 The Schweppervesence (1400m).

Cossetot, a gelding by Epaulette, comes to the race off his listed Tasmanian Derby win on February 8th and his third in the Group 2 Alister Clark Stakes over 2040m at The Valley on March 15th.
