Race 1 VERY SPECIAL KIDS PIN AND WIN PLATE - 2500 metres:

Prior to correct weight, Michael Walker viewed the Stewards' patrol film over the concluding stages before deciding not to proceed with an objection. It was established that near the 100m Ventura  Storm (IRE) got its head up, shifted in and brushed Naval Warfare (IRE) which became unbalanced for a stride. Both horses then had fair running to the finishing line.

Harrison (GB) Change of tactics: more forward. Led. Weakened from the 300m. Rider Michael Dee could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Ventura Storm (IRE) Raced three wide without cover from the 1000m. Approaching and passing the 100m got its head up in an awkward position.

King of Leogrance (FR) Held up for clear running from the 450m until shifting out across the heels of Ventura Storm (IRE) passing the 300m.

Damien Oliver (King of Leogrance FR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that passing the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Exemplar (IRE), bumping that gelding, taking it out off its course which resulted in it becoming unbalanced and tightening the running of Another Coldie which had to be steadied and relinquish its position. Damien Oliver had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 15 September 2019 and to expire midnight 25  September 2019, a total of 10 race meetings (3 metropolitan, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record and that the carelessness was in the mid‑range.

Race 2 CAP D'ANTIBES STAKES - 1100 metres:

She Shao Fly Change of tactics: to be ridden quieter. Settled towards the rear of the field.

Absolute Flirt Held up from the 350m and unable to obtain clear running until near the 150m.

Vincere Volare Jumped away awkwardly. Had to be steadied approaching the 100m to avoid the heels of Lankan Star which had taken a run to the inside of Wayupinthesky which shifted in. Rider Dwayne Dunn could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Niedorp Became unbalanced at the start when bumped by She Shao Fly.

St Edward's Crown Jumped away awkwardly.

Athiri Tightened for room near the 1000m between Sizzlefly and Lankan Star which had been initially taken out by Vincere Volare before that filly was taken out further by Evening Slippers (S. Baster). Rider Stephen Baster was advised to exercise more care in future. Rider Craig Williams reported that after losing his position early in the race the filly then settled further back than he anticipated. Held up for clear running before the 400m, having an interrupted run between runners from the 200m, with the filly then finishing the race off well.

Paris Rider Ben Melham could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 3 ANTLER LUGGAGE EXFORD PLATE 1400 metres:

Independent Road Jumped away awkwardly which resulted in its rider Jordan Childs becoming unbalanced.

Peidra Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Shotmaker Held up from the 400m before gaining clear running passing the 300m.

Legionnaire Knuckled on jumping away.

Tenley Held up from the 400m to the 300m.

La Tene Weakened from the 150m. Rider Dwayne Dunn could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Missile Mantra Jumped away awkwardly. Held up from the 500m unable to gaining clear running until passing the 100m.

Lady Lupino Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Weakened in the straight. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise‑induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horse's racing performance. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Snapdancer Jumped away awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.

Race 4 THE SOFITEL - 1400 metres:

Savvy Oak Late gear change: front concussion plates off.

Tarwin Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up for clear running on straightening until near the 150m.

Vassilator (NZ) Was disappointed for clear running passing the 100m between Mr Money Bags and Travimyfriend (NZ).

Tribal Wisdom Severely hampered passing the 100m to avoid Kiwia.

Antah Passing the 100m sustained a serious racing injury and as a result was humanely euthanised. Kiwia, which was following, was severely hampered, resulting in rider Damian Lane almost being dislodged. This incident will be referred to the Equine Welfare and Veterinary Department.

Kiwia Severely hampered at the 100m when following Antah which had broken down. As a result, rider Damian Lane was almost dislodged. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

I Am Vinnie Severely hampered passing the 100m after being bumped heavily by Kiwia resulting in its rider Jake Noonan almost being dislodged. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Mr Money Bags Had difficulty obtaining clear running to the inside of Long leaf from the 150m until the concluding stages.

Romancer (NZ) A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from colic.

Express Pass Raced greenly throughout the event.

Race 6 LET'S ELOPE STAKES - 1400 metres:

Spanish Reef Slow to begin.

Fundamentalist Rider Luke Nolen said the mare would be better suited on tracks with more give. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

My Pendant (NZ) Accidentally stuck over the head by the whip of Dean Yendall, rider of Amberdi, approaching the finishing line.

Fidelia Slow to begin.

Amberdi Raced three wide without cover.

Race 7 PFD FOOD SERVICES MAKYBE DIVA STAKES - 1600 metres:

Gailo Chop (FR) The gelding underwent a veterinary examination on arrival and passed suitable to race.

Gatting Trainer Darren McAuliffe advised that the gelding improved today compared to its last start as in his view Gatting was poorly ridden last start after having missed the start and pulled hard with no cover in a race with a slow tempo. He added that Gatting had travelled well after arriving in Victoria on Wednesday morning and had only completed slow work since then but had trialled very well at Lark Hill last Monday. He added that Gatting had shown good ability and in his view was a quality horse who appreciates a fast-run race which he obtained today.

Fifty Stars (IRE) Knuckled on jumping away. Had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Mystic Journey (A. Darmanin) which shifted in. Anthony Darmanin was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

Mr Quickie Held up at the 400m before gaining clear running near the 200m.

Qafila Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover. Rider Luke Nolen reported that the mare, which was second-up today, felt flat during the run and being three wide without cover may have been detrimental to its chances. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Stewards interviewed trainer Matthew Williams regarding Gailo Chop's suitability to race after comments made by his attending veterinary surgeon Dr Andrew Cust on RSN Radio this morning. Matthew Williams advised that Gailo Chop (FR), whose last race start was in April 2018, had had a long preparation during which there had been no recurring conditions and the gelding had successfully trialled on three separate occasions. He further advised that the gelding had been under constant veterinary care which included scans of previous injuries. Matthew Williams advised that in his view Gailo Chop (FR) was fit to race.

Race 8 BOBBIE LEWIS QUALITY - 1200 metres:

I'm Wesley Slow to begin.

Glenall Jumped away awkwardly. Rider Dwayne Dunn reported that could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Resin Slow to begin.

Usain Bowler Rider Michael Dee reported that the gelding would be better suited on tracks with more give. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Rich Itch Disappointed for a run between Demerara and Tshahitsi passing the 200m.

Race 9 VALE RUSSELL CAMERON - 1700 metres:

Prior to correct weight, rider Dwayne Dunn viewed the Stewards' patrol films before deciding not to proceed with an objection.

Crafty Devil Jumped away awkwardly.

Tarquin Slow to begin.

Material Man Rider Damian Lane reported that could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Royal Ace Raced three wide without cover in the early stages.

Captain Cook (GB) Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages.

Sully (NZ) Held up from the 400m before gaining clear running passing the 100m.

Spanish Steps (IRE) When questioned, rider Ben Melham explained that whilst he was instructed to be forward however, the gelding was unable to muster sufficient speed to hold a position and for this reason he ended up further back than anticipated. He added that after seeking a run on the inside rounding the home turn and to save ground, he was then disappointed for clear running in the straight until passing the 200m when the gelding made good ground.

Flying Sardine (NZ) Raced four wide without cover in the middle stages.

Hang Man (IRE) At the 200m was taken in off its course by Mosh Music, having to be steadied. Approaching the line was steadied when tightened for room between Mosh Music which laid in and Captain Cook (GB) which shifted out slightly.

Laure Me In A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering heat stress.

Jye McNeil (Mosh Music) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that passing the 200‑metre mark he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Hang Man (IRE) taking that gelding in off its course and ultimately having to be steadied to avoid Mosh Music's heels. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and that the carelessness was in the mid‑range. As Jye McNeil was starting a suspension incurred from Bendigo on 11 September commencing tonight, to avoid making his term of suspension manifestly excessive, Jye McNeil's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at midnight 22 September 2019 at the end of his current suspension and to expire midnight 28 September 2019, a total of 7 race meetings (3 metropolitan, 4 provincial).
