Medical Certificate produced today:

Michael Walker was examined by the doctor after arriving on course and was passed fit to ride after being stood down at Newcastle yesterday.

 

Race 1- JDRF Pin & Win Plate - 2500m:

The Statesman (GB) - after being fractious in its starting stall underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.

Jaamah (IRE) - slow to begin.

Hush Writer (JPN) - rider Stephen Baster was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(i) for using his whip for two consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Tiffany’s Lass - lost its near hind plate in running. Apprentice Stephanie Thornton was of the view the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Master Zephyr (GB) - rider Craig Williams reported that his mount raced keenly and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 2- Cap D’Antibes Stakes (Listed) - 1100m:

Lady Pluck - after being fractious in its tie-up stall, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly.

Sweet Rockette - slow to begin. Was held up and unable to improve its position from the 400m until approaching the 200m.

Graceful Storm - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Trilli (NZ). Was steadied off the heels of Downloads near the 400m. Was held up from the 150m until passing the 50m.

Thine Is The Power - began awkwardly and then knuckled. Hampered near the 300m when racing to the inside of Downloads.

Roobeena - began awkwardly.

Downloads - was steadied and checked near the 300m when inconvenienced by Trilli (NZ) which shifted in away from Music Bay which had shifted in to improve resulting in Thine Is The Power, which was racing to the inside of Downloads, being hampered in consequence.

Multaja - when weakening near the 250m, was inconvenienced when racing in restricted room between Thine Is The Power and Sweet Rockette. Rider Dwayne Dunn reported that his mount over-raced in the early and middle stages and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 3- The Sofitel (Listed) - 1400m:

Cliff’s Edge - connections advised would be ridden more forward; settled behind the leaders. Held up from the 400m and was then disappointed for a run near the 300m before shifting in to obtain clear running approaching the 100m. When questioned, rider John Allen explained that upon straightening, he was held up behind Theanswermyfriend, which had failed to quicken as he expected, he then decided to attempt a run to that gelding’s outside before being again disappointed due to Theanswermyfriend shifting out, and he then attempted to shift back to the inside of Theanswermyfriend but was again disappointed due to Theanswermyfriend shifting in slightly and Flow having gained running to this inside.

Violate - began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.

Theanswermyfriend - raced wide without cover in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Dodging Bullets - got its head up near the 800m when being restrained to allow Theanswermyfriend (Mark Zahra) to cross; Mark Zahra was severely reprimanded for shifting in when insufficiently clear. Weakened from the 350m; rider Jye McNeil stated that after being obliged to work through the initial stages, failed to finish off as expected. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Sully (NZ) - laid in under pressure in the straight.

Flow - rider Dwayne Dunn reported that his mount never travelled comfortably racing in an anti-clockwise direction. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 4- Antler Luggage Plate (Listed) - 1400m:

Leonardo Da Hinchi - second placegetter; prior to correct weight rider Damian Lane viewed the patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Not A Single Cent - slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover.

Unfair Dismissal - began awkwardly.

Qafila - raced four wide without cover.

Good ‘N’ Fast - held up from the 400m before gaining clear running passing the 200m.

Brutal (NZ) - over the concluding stages shifted out towards Leonardo Da Hinchi.

Crockett - a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

The August - rider Noel Callow could offer no explanation for the performance, which was below expectations. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 5- Bobbie Lewis Quality (Group 2) - 1200m:

Demonstrate - after being fractious in the float en route to the course, underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course and was passed suitable to race.

Rich Charm - began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Kemono (JPN). A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Hey Doc - rider Luke Currie reported that his mount knuckled slightly on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

 

Race 6- Let’s Elope Stakes (Group 2) - 1400m:

Bella Martini - began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped I Am A Star (NZ).

Bellaria (NZ) - began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Petition. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained an abrasion to its near foreleg.

Mrs Gardenia (NZ) - raced three wide without cover. Rider Dean Yendall could offer no explanation for the performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities other than a slow recovery.

Sheezdashing - held up from the 400m until gaining clear running approaching the 250m.

Jennifer Lynn - lost its off fore plate in running.

Merriest - a post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

 

Race 7- PFD Food Services Makybe Diva Stakes (Group 1) - 1600m:

The Taj Mahal (IRE) - connections advised the intention is to lead; marginally slow to begin and settled in a forward position. Near the 1400m was taken in by Black Heart Bart.

Happy Clapper - connections advised would be ridden further forward; settled outside the leader. Near the 200m was taken out by Black Heart Bart and was checked off the heels of Grunt (NZ). A post race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. The gelding shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months thereafter; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m in the presence of a Steward.

Kementari - near the 1400m was taken in by The Taj Mahal (IRE) which was in turn taken in by Black Heart Bart.

Black Heart Bart - when questioned regarding his tactics, rider Brad Rawiller advised that he was instructed to be positive from the outside barrier and that after having begun well and taken up a forward position, he elected to then press on and lead. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Pounamu - Checked near the 1400m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Tosen Basil (JPN) - tightened near the 1400m.

Comin’ Through - tightened near the 1400m.

Humidor (NZ) - rider Damian Lane reported that he was satisfied with the performance and the way his mount finished the race off. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Grunt (NZ) - a post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had sustained an abrasion to its near hind leg.

Kings Will Dream (IRE) - a post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained an abrasion to its near hind leg.

Brad Rawiller (Black Heart Bart) - pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that near the 200m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Happy Clapper thereby taking that gelding out and having to be checked off the heels of Grunt (NZ). Brad Rawiller had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 16th and to expire at midnight September 26th, a total of ten race meetings (two metropolitan, eight provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Brad Rawiller (Black Heart Bart) - was found guilty of a further charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the carelessness being that he near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of The Taj Mahal (IRE) thereby taking that horse in onto Kementari which in turn was taken in and caused tightening to runners on its inside, namely Comin’ Through, Pounamu and Tosen Basil (JPN). Brad Rawiller had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight September 16th and to expire at the conclusion of the day meeting on September 28th, a total of twelve race meetings (two metropolitan, ten provincial and is to be served concurrently with the other suspension incurred in this race. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

 

Race 8- Danehill Stakes (Group 2) - 1200m:

Sanctimonious - began awkwardly. Was steadied off the heels of Ocean Knight (NZ) which in turn was steadied when crowded for room by Mig Energy which was eased to avoid the heels of Tavisan.

Marcel From Madrid - began awkwardly.

Thorondor - began awkwardly.

Tavisan - laid in under pressure in the straight.

Al Dorama - was steadied when tightened for room between Mig Energy and Ef Troop (Damien Oliver) which shifted out near the 400m; Damien Oliver was reminded of his obligation to be clear when shifting ground.

Vassilator (NZ) - became awkward between Ocean Knight (NZ) and Sanctimonious near the 300m.

Ef Troop - near the 200m was steadied to avoid the heels of Spin which when being ridden along shifted in. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in off foreleg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

Native Soldier - a post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have a poor recovery and was lame in the near hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

 

Race 9- Sofitel Girls’ Day Out Handicap - 1700m:

Jacquinot Bay - late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 7.35am and the explanation of the stable for not scratching the gelding by the prescribed time was accepted.

Orderofthegarter (IRE) - connections advised would be ridden forward; settled behind the leader.

Seaburge - slow to begin.

Lizard Island - began awkwardly. Hung outwards in the straight.

Anaheim - slow to begin.

Shoreham - raced three wide without cover.

Sir Isaac Newton (GB) - held up from the 400m until gaining clear running near the 250m.

Mr Garcia (GB) - a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg and will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.

 

General

Licensed jockey Michelle Payne pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct, the misconduct being that she used the term “absolute bullshit” when referring to the RV Track Preparation Policy on Twitter which was posted this morning. Michelle Payne was fined the sum of $300.

Super Fox - trainer Rhonda Miles reported that the mare pulled up with general soreness for which it will be treated before having a gallop in a couple of weeks and she plans to continue with the preparation.



Echuca, Thursday September 6th

Race 1 - HYGAIN MAIDEN PLATE - 2124 metres:

Major Oak (NZ) - the Weir stable advised that the gelding pulled up satisfactorily and will continue with its preparation.
Race 3 - EMPD MAIDEN PLATE - 1412 metres:

Finnick - trainer Luke Oliver advised that the gelding pulled up satisfactorily and will continue with the preparation.
Race 5 - ECHUCA MOAMA TOURISM CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1209 metres:

Casadiva - trainer Brent Stanley advised that the filly had jarred up in the near fore knee  and has been treated and he will decide in the coming days whether or not to continue with the preparation.
