Bangkok goes for three in succession at Randwick

The $125,000, Spring Preview Handicap (1400m) is one of the features of a low key meeting on the Kensington track at Randwick on Saturday with a field of 11 accepted on Wednesday.

The Allan Denham trained Bangkok is going for three Randwick wins in succession and she has 52kg under Rachel King with barrier three.

The five-year-old Medaglia d’Oro mare now has seven wins from 25 starts with the last in the August Handicap over 1300m on a Soft 7 track on August 3rd. She carried 52.5kg under King for a 1 3/4L win.

The Waller stable have accepted with Seaway (NZ) after the five-year-old Ocean Park gelding’s win in the listed Winter Challenge over 1500m at Rosehill on July 27th. That win was franked by Tommy Berry going forward from barrier 11 to be second at the 400m and then with 54.5kg they went away for a 1/4L win over Goodfella with 54kg.

On Saturday Seaway will carry 59kg under Berry with barrier seven.

The Spring Preview is Race 7 on the nine race programme at 3.40pm. The meeting commences with a capacity field of 12 for the $75,000, TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap (1300m) at noon. Overall there are 112 acceptances for the meeting.

The Kensington track is currently rated a Good 4 after 2.5mm of irrigation in the last 24 hours and 0.4mm of rain for the last seven days. The rail will be in the True position for the entire circuit.

Sydney’s weather into the weekend is forecast to be sunny with temperatures of 22c on Thursday and 25c on Friday. Saturday’s forecast is for a partly cloudy day with 11c – 19c.
