Nominations extended for the George Main Stakes

The Australian Turf Club received 11 nominations on Monday for the $500,000, Group 2 WFA George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday with the Chris Waller stable entering five including Winx.

For the 30th start of her career Winx has stablemates Mackintosh (NZ), Tom Melbourne (IRE), Foxplay and McCreery (GB) as fellow nominations.

Kris Lees has nominated Le Romain and Invincible Gem, the Waterhouse and Bott stable have Ecuador (NZ), Pat Webster has Happy Clapper, Tim Martin has Heavens Above and Winx’s tormentor in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes, Gerald Ryan’s Red Excitement is back for the re-run.

Nominations are extended until Tuesday. Foxplay and Le Romain are duel nominated for the $750,000, Group 1 WFA Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) at Flemington. Foxplay, Invincible Gem, Mackinstosh, Tom Melbourne and McCreery are also nominated for the Bill Ritchie Handicap.

The $200,000, Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) has 12 nominations, which are also extended, with a number of The Everest contenders due to have their first shake down against each other before the $10 million contest on October 14th.

The Hawkes’ trained Chautauqua is nominated to resume on the race track after two trials as is English and Fell Swoop and the last start winner Redzel.

The $200,000, Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) has 17 nominations, the $150,000, Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) has 19 nominations, the $150,000, Group 3 Kingston Town Stakes (2000m) has 16 nomination and the $125,000, listed Schweppes Heritage Stakes (1100m) has 12 nominations.

The rail will be out 9m from the 1600m to the winning post and 7m for the remainder of the circuit.

Sydney’s weather continues to be fine with warm days during the week. Tuesday’s forecast is for a partly cloudy day and 27c, Wednesday sunny and 31c and Thursday a partly cloudy day with a medium (40%) chance of showers with 0mm-1mm and 18c. Friday’s forecast is for a sunny day and 22c with Saturday partly cloudy and 11c – 23c.
