A bit of Spring is in the air with it being Aurie’s Star day - a race Bart used to love for his stayers.

That doesn’t tend to happen anymore with so many more options.

At this time of year Lloyd Williams often produces his prospective Cups chances for an early stretch of the legs.

A horse who looks like a very promising five year old is Crocodile Rock and he can be winning again first up.

He loves the open stretches of these big tracks and at 2000m he gets the chance to balance up.

The fact they have Ben Melham to ride, rather than putting an apprentice on, suggests he is a serious horse and a Spring contender.

He’s had no trouble carrying weight either.

With added fitness over other leading chances, happy to be backing Flippant in the feature Aurie’s Star Handicap.

She looks so well placed after the Ramornie run and then the recent trial at Rosehill.

Her one start at Flemington was on Melbourne Cup day last year and she bolted in, winning by over two lengths.

This race won’t be much different and the Snowdens are excellent placers of these types of horses.
