Roly Poly, who won the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes at the July festival 12 months ago, made just about all the take the Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes (1600m) under Ryan Moore from the Godolphin pair of Wuheida and Arabian Hope at Newmarket on Friday.
Moore got the stands' side rail at an early stage and from there always looked to be in pole position on Roly Poly.
As the whips came up, Wuheida travelled strongly into contention down the centre of the track, but she could never quite get there under William Buick and in the end just held off Arabian Hope, who stayed on well for Josephine Gordon.
Roly Poly had been second three times at Group 1 level before this and Moore said: "Her last two runs were very good runs, behind Winter. She's improved through the spring and deserved a Group 1; she'd just been touched off in the Cheveley Park last year. She's just a very tough, honest filly."
It is likely to be Group 1s for the foreseeable future from here for the daughter of War Front. Immediately after the race, Paddy Power introduced her at 4-1 for the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown in September.
