Fractured ribs for Placais - out for at least one month

French jockey Olivier Placais thought he would be okay after his fall from Chosen Harvest on the way to the starting gates in Race 6 last Friday, but it turned out that he had not escaped injury.

After feeling a bit of pain in his left thigh, right heel and chest, he was stood down from his remaining engagements, but was able to go home.

Unfortunately, the pain worsened in the next couple of days, even more so when he jumped back on a few horses on Monday. He went to see a doctor after trackwork, and that was when it was confirmed he had fractured his ribs, and was advised to rest for at least a month.

“I tried riding trackwork on Monday, but the ribs were hurting too much, I couldn’t breathe properly. I had to stop after three rides,” said Placais.

“The doctor said I fractured three ribs. There is nothing I can do other than rest.

“I am going back to Switzerland to recover and will come back as soon as I’m better.”

Placais currently lies in ninth spot on 12 wins on the Singapore jockey’s premiership, 12 behind leader Vlad Duric.
