The Waterhouse and Bott stable have nominated their progressive sprinter Montreal for the $100,000, Benchmark 75 Handicap (1200m) on the Australian Turf Club’s nine race programme at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
Montreal, a four-year-old Lonhro gelding, has started twice for this campaign after a long time away from the races. He commenced with a romp over 1000m at Wyong on December 13th winning with 4 3/4L in hand and then dealt to a Benchmark 74 field over 1200m at Randwick on Boxing Day with similar ease, winning with a 3 3/4L margin.
There were 16 nominations for the race on Monday with 124 overall and six races having nominations extended until Tuesday.
The track is rated a Good 4 on Monday and the rail will be out 3m for the entire circuit.
Sydney’s weather this week is forecast to be mainly fine and warm temperatures from 31c to 33c on Friday. Both Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday have the possibility of showers with only 1mm forecast for each day.
Saturday’s forecast is for a sunny day with 17c – 37c.
