Race 1: Perfect Pitch ($10-$12) just outbobbed frontrunner Miss Invincible ($2.70-$4.40) on the line
For the second week in a row, a plunged Godolphin-owned runner went under
This week, the juvenile was Colombina ($3.60-$2.60), which finished fourth after a plum run
Rheingau ($4.60-$4.40) touched a high of $4.80 and a low of $4.20, and was unplaced
The fast-finishing Toulouse ($8-$13-$11) finished an eye-catching third

Race 2: Punters, along with Godolphin, hit back with the superbly bred Epidemic winning at $2.30
Epidemic hovered between $2.20-$2.30 (closed $2.30) and was too good for her three rivals
Epidemic accounted for 66 per cent of the money on the race including a $5,000 bet at $2.30
Runner-up Curdled ($5.50-$4.60) was the only other galloper to be backed
Equal Balance ($4.60-$4.80) and Junglized ($3.20-$4), third and fourth respectively, eased

Race 3: Imperial Aviator ($3.40-$2.25-$2.60) was very well backed and perfectly ridden by Josh Parr
Imperial Aviator was responsible for 43 per cent of money placed on the race
Vassal ($4.40-$8-$6.50) shortened late in betting but didn’t figure in the placings
The only other runner to firm from its original price was the unplaced Shalmaneser ($13-$8.50)
Great Glen ($6) and Last Wish ($15) completed the placings

Race 4: Volpe ($10-$13) got the run at the right time and drew away to win by over a length
Takookacod was supported from $8.50 into $4.60 equal favourite, but was unplaced
Runner-up Rugenbrau ($18-$7.50) almost landed the plunge
Equal favourite with Takookacod was Saxton Rock ($6-$4.60) who also missed the placings
Shelley Beach Road ($18) was the third placegetter

Race 5: Another gun ride from Rachel King got the well backed Sedanzer ($3.10-$2.30-$2.50) home
It was a huge result for punters with two-thirds of the money for Sedanzer
Bets of note included $10,000 and $6,750 at $2.30 and three $5,000 wagers at $2.50
Placegetters Hunter Jack ($17-$23) and Cellarman ($6-$15-$12) were unwanted in the market
Aside from Sedanzer, Redouble ($4.40-$3.50-$4) had early raceday support but drifted late

Race 6: The money for Savapinski ($2.15-$2-$2.20-$2.15) went astray in the ATC Cup
The Savabeel mare could only manage fourth, much to the dismay of favourite punters
One punter was counting the cost after plonking $20,000 at $2 on Savapinski
Second favourite Broadside ($6-$7.50-$6.50) enjoyed a cosy run behind Savapinski
Placegetters Lord Kingsley ($12-$18) and Montauk ($17) were both soft in betting
The money dried up for Black On Gold ($4-$6.50) when the rain arrived
There was one bet late of $6,000 at $6.50 though

Race 7: In a busy finish, Testashadow saluted in a surprise result to the Festival Stakes
Runner-up Mister Sea Wolf (opened $11; $5-$4.60 on raceday) almost landed the plunge
There was one bet of $5,000 each-way at $4.80/$1.85 on Mister Sea Wolf
Testashadow ($19-$12-$17) was clearly a win for bookmakers
Almost half of the support was for the unplaced favourite Cabeza De Vaca ($2.80-$3.70)
One punter attempted to defy the drift by placing a $15,000 bet at $3.70 late
Third placegetter Red Excitement had some late specking ($14-$13)
One late bet of $5,000 at $5.50/$2.05 was wagered on the unplaced Federal

Race 8: Egyptian Symbol ($6-$7.50-$4.40) rewarded punters handsomely in the Starlight Stakes
Bets of note included $9,000 and $5,000 at $4.40 plus $5,000 each-way and $4.40/$1.80
Tactical Advantage ($5.50-$3.90-$4.20) started favourite but finished outside of the placings
One bet of $8,000 at $3.90 was placed on Tactical Advantage
Another unplaced galloper, Sir Plush, also received late backing ($10 into $8.50)
Runner-up and opening favourite Glenall was $4.60 out to $8.50 on raceday
A couple of punters attempted to defy the drift with bets of $11,000 and $4,000 at $8.50
Isorich ($26) was the third placegetter

Race 9: Uptown Lad ($12-$8) ran out an easy winner in the last race of the day
One punter was celebrating after a bet of $5,500 at $11 was placed
Third placegetter Powerline was heavily backed from $8.50 into $6 late
Bets of $10,000 at $8.50 and $10,000 at $8 were placed on Powerline
Heavenly Anna received support at a longer price ($23-$9) but was unplaced
Starting price favourite Best Guess ($3.90-$5) was soft late in betting and ran accordingly
There was a late wager of $8,000 at $9 on the unplaced Machinegun Jubs
Level Eight ($13-$11) ran an admirable second after receiving some late betting support


Race 1: In driving rain, Written By ploughed through the heavy going to beat Tony McEvoy’s juveniles
Written By was solid throughout betting on raceday around the $8.50-$9 mark (closed $8.50)
The unplaced Coronel ($6.50-$5.50) and Seberate ($7.50-$5.50) were two of four favourites
The runner-up Sanctimonious eased from $4.80 to $6 before closing $5.50
The third placegetter Logan River was a notable drifter from $2.90 to $5.50 on raceday

Race 2: To the dismay of favourite backers, Memory Bank held off all challengers
Memory Bank was respected in the market, closing as a $7 chance (was as short as $6.50)
Just over 70 per cent of the support was for the runner-up Holy Freeze
Holy Freeze was as short as $2.25 out to $2.70 before closing $2.60 (touched $2.50 late)
Kasi Farasi ($6.50-$9-$8) finished third

Race 3: Despite easing as favourite, Mrs Gardenia was definitely a popular winner
Mrs Gardenia was $2 on race morning before easing to as much as $2.35 (closed $2.30)
Almost 60 per cent of the support in this race was for Mrs Gardenia
One punter took advantage with a late wager of $4,000 at $2.30
The third-placed Fudged tightened late in betting ($7.50 into $6; touched $5.50)
Runner-up Heavenly Descent was $6 out to $7.50 on raceday

Race 4: Vinland didn’t let favourite punters by winning in almost arrogant fashion
Our bookies did risk Vinland though ($2.30-$3.60 on raceday), which proved costly
One punter took advantage of the drift with a $4,000 wager at $3.50
Late support was for the runner-up Atone ($8 into $5 on raceday)
Third placegetter Grand Casino was also specked ($19 into $11; touched $10)
One punter had $7,500 at $2 the place on Civil Disobedience, who finished fourth

Race 5: Silent General burst through the pack at the 200 before holding off a fast-finishing Jvala
Silent General was a popular second elect around the $4.20-$4.60 mark (closed $4.20)
Runner-up Jvala had support at a longer price ($12 into $7 on raceday; touched $6.50)
Third placegetter Urban Royal firmed late from $2.80 to $2.60
One punter did place a $4,000 bet at $2.80 on Urban Royal

Race 6: Favourite punters were left lamenting after Miss Wonderland nabbed Sprightly Lass
Sprightly Lass was heavily supported around the $2-$2.20 mark (closed $2.10)
Bets of note included $11,000 and $6,000 at $2.10 plus $5,500 at $2
Miss Wonderland eased on raceday from $3.20 to $4.80 (touched $5)
The unplaced Chiavari tightened from $8.50 to as short as $5 before closing $6

Race 7: Jungle Edge relished the heavy conditions and was far too good for his rivals
Despite his liking for the wet, Jungle Edge held just 46 per cent of the money placed
Jungle Edge was backed from $2.70 into $2.40 on raceday
Bets of note on Jungle Edge included $6,000 at $2.60 and $8,000 at $2.40
Runner-up Thermal Current drifted from $7.50 to $15 on raceday

Race 8: Favourite punters breathed a sigh of relief when Night’s Watch just prevailed
Night’s Watch drifted noticeably from $2.30 to $3.80 before firming late into $3.30
Long Time Ago, who finished third, got into as short as $4.50 before easing late to $6
The unplaced War Legend shortened from $8.50 into $6.50 on raceday
Runner-up Guizot hovered between $8.50-$9.50 (closed $9)

Race 9: Widgee Turf lapped up the heavy conditions by running away with the final race
Widgee Turf was well fancied late, tightening from $4.60 into $4.20
The unplaced favourite Data Point was popular around $3.40-$3.60 (closed $3.60)
There was a late rally for the unplaced Eureka Street (as much as $8.50 into $7)
Nikitas – also unplaced – was as much as $10 into $8.50
Runner-up Moonlover was solid around the $9.50-$10 mark (closed $10)
Third placegetter Forbidden Kisses was the $51 rank outsider
