The Australian Turf Club’s features at Rosehill on Saturday will have fields of eight each after acceptances on Wednesday for the $100,000, November Handicap (1400m) and the $100,000, November Topaz (1900m).
The November Handicap is first as Race 5 at 3.05pm with the Gerald Ryan trained Red Excitement top-weight with 62kg under Blake Shinn. Last year the Excites eight-year-old gelding was third in the race to Religify and Ducia Valentinois (IRE) carrying 61.5kg. They have barrier five.
The Waterhouse and Bott trained Cabeza De Vaca will carry 54kg with apprentice Rachel King’s allowance from barrier eight. He resumed for a new campaign with a win in the Filante Handicap over 1400m at Randwick on a Soft 6 on October 28th. King rode with 51.5kg.
The six-year-old Northern Meteor gelding has won his last four starts for the stable who have just finished an outstanding week at Flemington being the leading trainers of the VRC’s Melbourne Cup week.
From Cabeza De Vaca’s small number of 13 starts he has won six and placed in a further six.
Bjorn Baker’s Embley is the top-weight in the Topaz, Race 6 at 3.45pm, with 59kg under Jason Collett. The High Chaparral was fourth in the Topaz Preview over 1800m on the same course on November 4th with 60kg to Black On Gold with 53kg.
The Waller trained Black On Gold has 55kg under Kathy O’Hara for the rematch. They have barrier four with Embley in barrier eight.
Godolphin’s Interlocuter (USA) has 56kg under Tye Angland with barrier six. The progressive galloper has raced in Australia six times since he was imported by the stable and since March he has won four and placed second in the other two starts.
The Medaglia d’Oro five-year-old entire won the Benchmarch 95 over 1800m at Randwick last time out carrying 56.5kg under Angland.
The meeting commences with a field of nine three-year-old’s in the $100,000, ATC Owners Benefit Card Bm 74 Handicap (1200m) at 12.40pm.
The track was rated a Good 4 on Wednesday after 5mm of irrigation over the past 24 hours and 15mm for the last seven days. The rail will be out 6m for the entire circuit.
Sydney’s weather into Saturday has rain forecast with Thursday a partly cloudy day with a medium (60%) chance of showers, 0mm-3mm, and 26c and Friday a cloudy day with a very high (90%) chance of showers, 3mm-10mm, and 24c and the chance of a thunderstorm.
Saturday’s forecast is similar with a very high (95%) chance of showers, 2mm-5m, with 16c – 23c.
